Chalazion<\/strong> is an inflammation of the eyelid and an encystment of the Meibomian glands. It appears as a lump under the skin that can cause unpleasant pain for every patient with this disease. It is caused by the obstruction of the small channel responsible for the drainage of the Meibomian gland.<\/p>\n The treatment of chalazion, which can be done at home, must be done quickly by the patient to prevent the chalazion from becoming encysted. To do this, it is advisable to apply heat (using hot compresses or a washcloth, for example) for about twenty minutes, in order to make the enclosed glands liquid. To treat the disease, the doctor may prescribe an ointment with an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic.
